More Open Sleigh

I wanted to use the stocking from Open Sleigh again and the stocking reminds me of an old fashioned stocking, so I used the vintage/country colors on this card.  The words are from More Merry Messages.

Supplies:
Stamp sets - Open Sleigh, More Merry Messages
Card stock - Always Artichoke, Cherry Cobbler, Crumb Cake
Ink - Always Artichoke, Cherry Cobbler,
Accessories - Striped Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, Crumb Cake taffeta ribbon, Stampin' sponge, Stampin' Dimensionals

Daydream Medallions Wreath

I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving.  Our family had a good time, as usual. We are a small group anymore, but what are you going to do?!  I'm thankful for those who are still here and/or near that can be with us.

The Christmas card I made today is made with the Daydream Medallions stamp set (p 117 in the 2012 catalog). This card is a CASE from Jennifer Timko. I stamped the 2nd largest medallion in Always Artichoke and it looks amazingly like a wreath.  I used a red Sharpie and colored the smallest Basic Pearls red and stuck them to the wreath and they made cute little berries. Every wreath needs a bow and this one is made with Cherry Cobbler seam binding to match the Merry Christmas greeting.  That Merry Christmas from Greetings of the Season has been my "go to" stamp this season!

Supplies:
Stamp sets - Daydream Medallions, Greetings of the Season
Card stock - Naturals White, Always Artichoke
Ink - Always Artichoke, Cherry Cobbler
Accessories - Cherry Cobbler seam binding, Basic Pearls, Red Sharpie (not Stampin' Up!), Stampin' Dimensionals

French Foliage Birthday

I made this card with the French Foliage stamp set. It's a CASE from Tamara Bertram.  I usually use the fall colors like Cajun Craze, More Mustard, Riding Hood Red.  But this card uses the green leaves and it turned out beautiful.  It is one of those cards that is so easy but looks absolutely fabulous!!

Supplies:
Stamp sets - French Foliage, Sincere Salutations (retired)
Card stock -  Very Vanilla, River Rock
Ink - Always Artichoke, Crumb Cake, River Rock
Accessories - 3/8" Very Vanilla seam binding, Stampin' sponge

The French words are stamped in River Rock, the leaves in Always Artichoke, and the spots are in Crumb Cake.  The sentiment is stamped in Always Artichoke.

Snowflakes

I got some new stamp sets and Big Shot dies to play with this week and this is one of the cards I made. It combines the snowflakes from Snowflake Soiree and the Snow Flurry Bigz Die.

Supplies:
Stamp sets - Snowflake Soiree, Greetings of the Season
Card stock - Night ofr Navy, Whisper White, Silver Glimmer Paper
Ink - Night of Navy, Marina Mist
Accessories - Snow Flurry Bigz Die, Stampin' Sponge, Stampin' Dimensionals

You sure can't beat the Glimmer paper! It takes away all the mess of glittering! If you haven't tried it yet, you really need to check it out!

Vintage Sunflower

While I had my Sunflower set out, I played around with some other cards. I made this one with a vintage look.  I really thinks it's cool.  Would make a great masculine card, don't you think?

Supplies:
Stamp sets - Sunflower, Teeny Tiny Wishes
Card stock - Early Espresso, Crumb Cake
Ink - Crumb Cake, Early Espresso
Accessories -Woodgrain Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, Word Window and Modern Label punches, Early Espresso 3/8" taffeta ribbon (is retired, so Soft Suede would be my next choice), Stampin' sponge, Stampin' Dimensionals

inside of card

Love this card. Since the sentiment is interchangable, I'll be making a bunch!

Sunflower

I'm taking a step away from the autumn colors and the Christmas cards to make a  cheery sunflower card today. This card is a CASE from Mary Campbell. I saw it and it made me feel good immediately so I wanted to share with others!

Supplies:
Stamp sets - Sunflower, Language of Friendship
Card stock - Midnight Muse, Whisper White
Ink - Midnight Muse
Accessories - Midnight Muse 3/8" Stitched Satin Ribbon

This card is beautiful in real life, but it didn't photograph very well.  Try this technique with any large  image stamp. I made the strip of Whisper White that I stamped the sunflower on 4 1/2" x 2". Then I cut the stamped image apart at 1 1/2" and 3", so each panel is 1 1/2" wide.

Hope you'll make a card (any kind) today!!

Grateful!

Oh boy, where have I been?! My apologies for going so long without a post.  I really don't have a good excuse, I've just been super busy. Today's card is my card for the nursing home tomorrow.  I'm going to do a few Thanksgiving cards and then move on to Christmas with the ladies (and Mr. Charlie too!)

Supplies:
Stamp sets - French Foliage, Gently Falling (retired)
Card stock - Confetti Cream, Cajun Craze
Ink - Cajun Craze, More Mustard, Crumb Cake, Sahara Sand, Always Artichoke
Accessories - Leaves #2 Die, Woodgrain Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, Decorative Label punch, Linen thread, Stampin' Dimensionals, Stampin' sponge

inside of card

I used some retired products on this card but it's not anything you can't substitute with a current product.  It's more economical for me to use up some retired product on my nursing home projects ! :)

Festival of Prints Christmas Card

I was playing with my Festival of Prints Designer Series Paper Stack today while I was creating Christmas cards and came up with this card. Remember, they aren't all Christmas designs, so lots of the greetings from the Word Play stamp set would make great cards using this layout.

Supplies:
Stamp sets - Word Play
Card stock - Cherry Cobbler, Very Vanilla, Festival of Prints Designer Series Paper Stack (p.20 in Holiday catalog)
Ink - Cherry Cobbler, Old Olive marker
Accessories - Apothecary Accents Framelits, Basic Rhinestones, Stampin' sponge, Stampin' Dimensionals

I used a water color brush with the Old Olive marker to lighten the color a bit on the ornament in the sentiment. The pieces of DSP are cut 2 1/2" x 1 3/4" and placed on the card measuring 5 1/2" x 4 1/4".

Fancy up your everyday office supplies!

I am going to a friend's open house this afternoon for the new practice she opened. I wanted to take her a little something so I got out my designer paper and made her a couple of personal "note items".

The topper for the mini legal pad is made with the Labels Collection of Framelits with Crumb Cake cardstock and Designer paper. The top clip is also covered in designer paper. The little match book is a cover for Post It notes. You can decorate these items for any occasion. Make some for yourself or to give away!

Make a Mitten

I'm preparing for my next Christmas card class and I was playing with a new stamp set today, Make a Mitten. It has a coordinating punch that goes with it. It was a fun experience. Can't wait to try a few more.

Supplies:
Stamp set - Make a Mitten, Greetings of the Season
Card stock - Gumball Green, Cherry Cobbler, Bashful Blue, Very Vanilla, Be of Good Cheer DSP
Ink - Gumball  Green, Bashful Blue, Gumball Green - Cherry Cobble and Bashful Blue markers
Accessories - Mitten Builder punch (p11 in Holiday catalog), Perfect Polka Dots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder,  Whisper White Baker's twine, glue dots,  Stampin' sponge, Stampin' Dimensionals

I used markers to ink the stamp for the mittens and then punched them out with the Mitten Builder punch. The little tip for the mitten really adds a lot to the look of the mitten.

Christmas Tree from Christmas Lodge

Today's card is a Christmas card we made at Debbie's home workshop on Friday. It was a big hit. It uses the Christmas tree from the stamp set Christmas Lodge. I used the Core'dinations Early Espresso cardstock with the Woodgrain embossing folder (both from the Holiday catalog). The button is a Naturals Designer button and tied with Cherry Cobbler seam binding.

Supplies:
Stamp sets - Christmas Lodge, Teeny Tiny Wishes
Card stock - Cherry Cobbler, Very Vanilla, Core'dinations Early Espresso
Ink - Always Artichoke, Cherry Cobbler
Accessories - Woodgrain Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, Large Oval punch, Naturals Designer buttons, Cherry Cobbler seam binding, Stampin' sponges, Stampin' Dimensionals, glue dots

Scentsational Season for Hot Cocoa!

Here's a fun card for you! It's made with the Scentsational Season stamp set and the cocoa mug is heat embossed with the  Sugar & Spice Scented Embossing Powder. I used small strips from the Festival of Prints Designer Series Paper Stack. The Scentsational Season stamp set and the Holiday Collection Framelits Dies are a snap to use and if you buy them in the bundle, you can save 15%. (see p. 16 in the holiday catalog for more info)

Supplies:
Stamp sets - Scentsational Season, Joyous Celebrations
Card stock - Real Red, Crumb Cake, Very Vanilla, Festival of Prints Designer Series Paper Stack
Ink - Real Red, Soft Suede
Accessories - Holiday Collection Framelits Dies, Sugar & Spice Scented Embossing Powder, Perfect Polka Dots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, Large oval punch, 3/8" Early Espresso taffeta ribbon, Stampin' sponge, Stampin' dimensionals

How did I get the cocoa brown when I stamped my cup in Real Red?  I took a blender pen and wiped the color off where the hot cocoa is supposed to be. Then I inked that part of the stamp up with Soft Suede and voila!! Fun!

More French Foliage

I took a short break from my Christmas cards to create the card for my nursing home friends. This card is a CASE from Melissa Davies. I never use River Rock, and I know it didn't photograph well, but it's really nice with this card. I'm not happy with the Crumb Cake ribbon, but it was the best match I had. If I could only own one leaf set, it would definitely be French Foliage!!

Supplies:
Stamp sets - French Foliage, Tiny Tags
Card stock - River Rock, Very Vanilla
Ink - River Rock, Cajun Craze
Accessories - 1" and 1 1/4" circle punches, Crumb Cake taffeta ribbon, Stampin' Dimensionals, Stampin' sponge

Easy card, not a lot of supplies, but very elegant and classy looking!!

The stockings were hung ....

Hey, there. I've been negligent about posting again. But I have been busy making Christmas cards (just not posting them). Some will be for my Christmas card class this Sat., I'm just not sure which ones will make the cut!

My card today uses the stocking from Open Sleigh. Love this stocking!! It's what I actually bought the set for, but I did make a cool card with the sleigh this afternoon.

Supplies:
Stamp sets - Open Sleigh
Card stock - Gumball Green, Cherry Cobbler, Be of Good Cheer Designer Series Paper
Ink - Cherry Cobbler, Gumball Green
Accessories - Cherry Cobbler seam binding, Stampin'  sponge, mini glue dots, Stampin' Dimensionals

Easy card to mass produce for Christmas - you just have to use different DSP since you only get 12 cards out of the 2 sheets in the package.

Tag! You're it!

Today's post is copied from a project in my Oct., Stampin' Success magazine. (It's a magazine demonstrators receive monthly from Stampin' Up!). It uses the Snow Festival Designer Printed Tags (p 12 of the Holiday catalog, #128152 - $3.95) and the Petite Pocket Bigz XL die.  And that's pretty much it. You can embellish it with anything you have. The Petite Pocket is large enough to hold a gift card or just fill with treats.

Supplies:
Stamp sets - Greetings of the Season (for the center project)
Card stock - Cherry Cobbler, Gumball Green, Snow Festival Designer Printed Tags
Ink - Cherry Cobbler
Accessories - Petite Pocket Bigz XL Die, 3/8" Cherry Cobbler seam binding, Gumball Green 3/8" Stitched Satin ribbon, Cherry Cobbler Baker's twine

These are so easy and inexpensive to make - but they look terrific! All recepients will be impressed!

Paper piecing Christmas tree

My apologies for not posting for a week. I wish I could say I had a good reason, but I've just not been in my stamp room. I finally cleaned it up on Wed., so I could at least make a card :)
My friend Marla told me to check out Julie Ann Marshall's card on her blog. It was from a year ago, but I really liked the concept of paper piecing a Christmas tree.  I changed it slightly by using the designer paper from the new Festival of Prints Designer Series Paper Stack. It was the first time I had the chance to use the Merry Christmas from the Greetings of the Season stamp set. Love it!

Supplies:
Stamp sets - Greetings of the Season, Christmas Punch (retired - on inside of card)
Card Stock - Crumb Cake, Whisper White, Cherry Cobbler, Festival of Prings Designer Series Paper Stack
Ink - Cherry Cobbler, Crumb Cake (sponging)
Accessories - Cherry Cobbler seam binding, Neutrals buttons, Cherry Cobbler Baker's Twine, Stampin' Dimensionals, Stampin'  sponge, mini glue dots

inside of card

I don't usually put two colors inside the card, but I thought this one needed a little extra red to make it more Christmasy (a word?).
The measurements for the tree - Cut squares that are 1 3/4", 1 1/2", 1 1/4", and 1". Cut them on the diagonal. Have fun mixing and matching whatever paper you have! It's a great way to use up some DSP that you have laying around and knocking out a few Christmas cards at the same time!

Ornament Keepsakes

I made my card today using the Ornament Keepsakes stamp set and the Holiday Ornaments Framelits Dies. I used the Northern Flurry Textured Impressions Embossing Folder on the Whisper White card stock and then spritzed it with a Shimmer Mist concoction (Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint, rubbing alcohol, and Midnight Muse ink refill). It doesn't show up very well on the picture but it is beautiful in real time!

Supplies:
Stamp sets - Ornament Keepsakes
Card stock - Midnight Muse, Whisper White
Ink - Midnight Muse
Accessories - Northern Flurry Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, Holiday Ornaments Framelits Dies, Basic Pearls, 3/8" stitched satin Midnight Muse ribbon, Stampin' Dimensionals, Shimmer Mist spray (recipe below)

Recipe for Shimmer Mist Spray
- fill spray bottle 1/4 full with rubbing alcohol
- add 3 or 4 drops of Champagne Mist Shimmer paint
- add 3 or 4 drops of Midnight Muse (or any color you want) ink refill
Shake vigorously. The Shimmer Paint settles out so be sure and shake each time you use it.

Mother of Pearl technique on French Foliage

We sure are having some beautiful weather lately, and the cooling down at night and warming up in the day brings fall to mind so I broke out the leaf stamps. French Foliage is one of my favorite stamp sets, not just my favorite leaf set. I used a technique on this card called Mother of Pearl. After stamping the card, I applied Frost White Shimmer Paint to it using a piece of cellophane wrap. I made a video for you to learn the technique. It doesn't photograph well but it will WOW your card recipients!

Supplies:
Stamp sets - French Foliage
Card Stock - Cajun Craze, Very Vanilla
Ink - Crumb Cake, Cajun Craze, More Mustard, Always Artichoke, Riding Hood Red
Accessories - 3/8" Crumb Cake taffeta ribbon, Stampin' Sponge, Frost White Shimmer Paint, cellophane wrap, bowl

inside of card

When I made the video, I forgot to sponge the edges of the Very Vanilla card stock after I stamped all the leaves but before I applied the Shimmer Paint.

Vintage Ornament

Wow, where has the time gone? I've been so busy I haven't made a post for a while! This card is a CASE of Connie Stewart's. It uses the Ornament Keepsakes stamp set and the Holiday Ornaments Framelits Dies. They are so versatile and easy! I love the vintage style.

Supplies:
Stamp sets - Ornament Keepsakes, En Francais
Card stock - Whisper White, Soft Suede
Ink - Soft Suede, Crumb Cake
Accessories - Holiday Ornaments Framelits Dies, Lacy Brocade Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, Linen Thread, Stampin' Dimensionals, Stampin' sponge

I did a lot of sponging with Crumb Cake to get the vintage look. I also inked the EnFrancais in Crumb Cake so it would be a little lighter than the Soft Suede ornament.

Scentsational Season

I received a Stampin' Up! shipment yesterday that had the new Polka Dot Parade DSP in it and I couldn't wait to make a Christmas card with the Real Red Polka Dots.  I made two cards using each of the Polka Dot sides. Don't know which one I like best! I used the Scentsational Season stamp set and the Holiday Collection Framelits Dies (both on p 16 in the Holiday Catalog). The Framelits make it super fast to have some really cute cut out Christmas designs.  I have the scented embossing powder too, but I didn't even get to that yet. I'll save that for another day!

Supplies:
Stamp sets - Scentsational Seasons, Teeny Tiny Wishes
Card Stock - Gumball Green, Whisper White, Polka Dot Parade DSP
Ink - Real Red, Gumball Green, Soft Suede, Daffodil Delight
Accessories - Petals-a-Plenty Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, Holiday Collection Framelits Dies, Gumball Green Stitched Taffeta ribbon, Word Window and Modern Label punches, Stampin' Dimensionals

Frightening Feline

There's certainly nothing frightening about this feline. This is a single stamp and only comes in wood mount. You'll find him on p 26 of the Holiday Catalog. If you like cats, Halloween, or both, he's a must have!

Supplies:
Stamp sets - Frightening Feline
Card Stock - Basic Black, Tangerine Tango, Very Vanilla, Howlstooth and Scaringbone DSP
Ink - Basic Black classic ( or Staz On )
Accessories - Chevron Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, 1/8" Basic Black Taffeta ribbon, 3/8" Basic Black Taffeta ribbon, Mini glue dot, Stampin' Dimensionals

This is a 4 1/4" x 4 1/4" card. I do that so I can cut a 4 x 4 piece of DSP and get 9 pieces out of one 12 x 12 sheet.  It still fits nicely in the same envelope used for the 5 1/2" x 4 1/4" card. I let the bow hang over because there's lots of room in the envelope.

Balloons from You're Amazing

Happy Labor Day! If you're a member of the work force, I hope you got a much needed day off today! As for me, I enjoy retirement every day! Today's card is a CASE from Heidi King. It uses the ballons from You're Amazing.  I wasn't real crazy about the balloons at first, but I've seen them used several ways that I really like,so I'm changing my mind.  That happens alot with new stamp sets.

Supplies:
Stamp sets - You're Amazing, Itty Bitty Banners
Card Stock - Whisper White, Summer Starfruit, Midnight Muse
Ink - Raspberry Ripple, Midnight Muse, Summer Starfruit
Accessories -Fancy Fan Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, Bitty Banners Framelits, 3/8" Summer Starfruit Stitched Satin Ribbon, Stampin' Dimensionals

The middle balloon is cut out (with scissors) and mounted with dimensionals. The banner is also mounted with dimensionals.

Mirror Image stamping

Today's card uses the stamp set You're Amazing. I received this set at convention and we did Make-n-Takes with it but I haven't used it since.  I wanted to use the elephant stamp. My friend Marcia loves elephants and I told her I had a new elephant stamp and she was very excited. But when I told her he had a birthday hat on, she wasn't sold. So I just had to make a card to show her how cute he was! I used the technique, Mirror Image, on this card. I think it makes the elephant interesting!  I have included a video in this post to show you how to create the mirror image ( if  you don't already know).

Supplies:
Stamp sets - You're Amazing
Card Stock - Basic Gray, Real Red, Whisper White
Ink - Basic Black Classic Ink, Basic Gray (for sponging), Real Red,
Basic Gray, Real Red and Daffodil Delight markers
Accessories -  Take a Ticket wheel, Ticket Duo Builder punch, Perfect Polka Dots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, Basic Black 3/8" taffeta ribbon, Stampin' sponge, Stampin' Dimensionals.

I did a lot of sponging with the Basic Gray ink, around the Whisper White focal point, the embossed Real Red, and the tickets.

Here's the video on how to creat the mirror image. Try it!

SSC 270 Jack of all Trades

I participated in the challenge at Stamping411 today. It was a square card, which gave me a little less room to work with. I couldn't get the whole image on the focal point square, but I think it turned out OK. It gives it a different look.

Supplies:
Stamp sets - Jack of all Trades, Wicked Cool
Card Stock - Basic Black, Pumpkin Pie, Very Vanilla, Howlstooth and Scaringbone DSP
Ink - Basic Black, Pumpkin Pie
Accessories - 1 1/4" & 1 13/8" circle punches, 1 3/4" scallop circle punch,1/2" Basic Black Scallop Dots Ribbon, Stampin' Dimensionals

This card really mixes the patterns-stripes, polka dots, and plaid. I usually shy away from such mixes, but I like it on this Halloween card. It's fun! And you don't have to be serious for Halloween!!

Serene Silhouettes

I have to give a shout out to Sandy Murphy because I CASED her card. I saw it online and it was so beautiful I had to try it.
Supplies:
Stamp sets - Serene Silhouettes, Teeny Tiny Wishes
Card Stock - Basic Black, Daffodil Delight, Whisper White, Summer Smooches DSP
Ink - Black Staz On
Accessories - Vintage Wallpaper Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, Word Window and Modern Label punches, Daffodil Delight 1/2" seam binding, Stampin' Dimensionals, Sponge Dauber

When using the sponge daubers to color the flowers, don't press down too hard or you will just get a circle. It looks much more natural to sponge softly. I "sponged" off on scrap paper to lighten the color a bit.

Ghoulish Googlies Designer Kit

If you haven't already, you've got to check out the Ghoulish Googlies Designer Kit on p 27 in the Holiday Catalog! Halloween fun has never been easier. The Designer Kit gives you tags, bags, and googlie eyes to make all kinds of Halloween goodies. Add the Googly Ghouls stamp set and you can't help but smile - at how easy it is and how cute it is!

Here's what the kit includes.
#126914   $7.95

The glassine bags are plain, but you can run them through the Big Shot with an embossing folder and it really dresses them up!  I used the Chevron Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.  One bag I left open at the top and the other one I closed using a brad. You can use ribbon, clips, just about anything would be cute.

You get 20 tags so you'll have extra to make cards.  I made a 4 1/4" x 4 1/4" card with the Howlstooth and Scaringbone Designer Series Paper, one of the tags stamped with the Googly Ghouls stamp set and the Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set for the Happy Halloween. I knotted a little piece of the 1/8" Basic Black Taffeta ribbon. The inside is stamped with the greeting from Wicked Cool.

You can save 15% by purchasing the Ghoulish Goodlies Bundle.
129853  Clear Mount Bundle  $16.95
129852 Wood Mount Buncle  $20.95
Check it all out on p 27 of the Holiday Catalog.

Have a wicked cool day!!

Card Stock - Crumb Cake, Night of Navy, Soft Suede, Very Vanilla

Papillon Potpourri for Friday

I just finished putting together all the packets for my Friday nursing home class. I make 4 cards for samples (because there are 4 tables of residents) and then I put all the supplies they each will need in zip lock bags so everything is in one place. I assemble 14 bags each week. This week we are making a card with Papillon Potpourri.

Supplies:
Stamp sets - Papillon Potpourri, Teeny Tiny Wishes
Card Stock - Baja Breeze, Calypso Coral, Whisper White
Ink - Calypso Coral, Baja Breeze, More Mustard
Accessories - Elegant Butterfly punch, Petals-a-Plenty Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, Word Window and Modern Label punches, Calypso Coral 3/8" ruffled ribbon, Stampin' Dimensionals

Last night I held an in-home workshop (thanks, Becke!) and one of the cards we made was a Christmas card. One of the Apothecary Accents Framelits works well with the Holiday Frame embossing folder. This card is CASED from Sandy Mathis.

Kindness Matters embossing on vellum

I received a swap at convention from Denise Pedersen that inspired me to try embossing on vellum with my new heat tool.  So I actually CASED this card from her. It uses a lot of the same materials and ideas from my 1st embossing on vellum post.
Supplies:
Stamp sets - Kindness Matters
Cardstock - Daffodil Delight, Raspberry Ripple, Vellum Cardstock, Whisper White, Floral District DSP
Ink - Raspberry Ripple, Summer Starfruit
Accessories - Clear Embossing Powder, Heat tool, 3/8" Whisper White tafettta ribbon, Vintage Faceted Designer Buttons, White Baker's Twine, Modern Label punch, Beautiful Butterflies Bigz Die,Big Shot,  Glue Dots,

If you didn't see my video about embossing on vellum, check my blog entry for Thursday, Aug. 16.

A Pocket full of Posies

Today's card is the card I made with my friends at the nursing home.  I knew they'd love the bright colors and flowers - and I was right. They so look forward to "craft" day on Friday. They ought to just start calling it "card making Friday".
The original idea came from a swap I received from Lynnette Alvarez during convention. The purpose was to showcase all the In Colors. I changed the colors a bit by adding Island Indigo for one of the flowers, instead of having a Gumball Green flower.

Supplies:
Stamp sets - Everything Eleanor, Whimsical Words (retired)
Card Stock - Gumball Green, Midnight Muse, Primrose Petals, Raspberry Ripple, Summer Starfruit, Island Indigo
Ink - Gumball Green, Midnight Muse, Primrose Petals, Raspberry Ripple, Summer Starfruit, Island Indigo
Accessories - 1 1/4" and 1 1/2" circle punches, Stampin' Dimensionals, 3/8" Gumball Green Stitched Satin ribbon

A fun and quick card, as you can see.  Hope your weekend is as bright and cheery as the colors on this card!!

Heat embossing on vellum

Today I made a card and a video tutorial about embossing on vellum with the new heat tool from Stampin' Up! which was new in the 2012 - 2013 catalog. It has two heat setting, low and high, and you can emboss on vellum with the low heat setting.  It doesnt' damage the vellum at all and it is hot enough to set the embossing powder.  Did you know that you can emboss with the new Stampin' Up! Classic ink pads?  They are wet enough for the embossing powder to stick.  Here's the card I created.

Supplies:
Stamp sets - Creative Elements, Teeny Tiny Wishes
Cardstock - Raspberry Ripple, Whisper White, Vellum Card Stock , Floral District DSP
Ink - Raspberry Ripple Classic ink
Accessories - Heat tool, clear embossing powder, Beautiful Butterflies Bigz Die, Big Shot, Modern Label punch, 3/8' Raspberry Ripple Stitched Satin Ribbon, Stampin' Dimensionals, Mini glue dots

The Floral District DSP actually matches Rich Razzleberry, but the piece I chose went nicely with the Raspberry Ripple card stock. It had just a small amount of the Rich Razzleberry in the pattern.

Below is the video I created about embossing on vellum. I hope you'll try it.

SSC 268 Open Sleigh

Well, I'm going from Halloween to Christmas. I feel guilty because it's only August but I just can't help myself with all this new product in my hands!  I made this card for the challenge at Stamping 411. I have to admit that I purchased the Open Sleigh stamp set purely for the stocking. I fell in love with it the minute I saw it in the 2012 catalog. Hopefully I'll get around to using the sleigh too.

Have you noticed the Festival of Prints Designer Series Paper Stack on p. 20 in the Holiday Catalog?  It's not all Christmas designs or colors and the size is 4 1/2 x 6 1/2, which is perfect for your card making. I used the Apothecary Accents Framelits for my focal point on my card and used the new Essentials Paper-Piercing Pack with it. That was fun and gave it a nice effect.

Here's my take on the sketch.

Supplies:
Stamp sets - Open Sleigh
Card Stock - Lucky Limeade, Cherry Cobbler, Festival of Prints Designer Series Paper Stack, Whisper White

TSSC234 Googly Ghouls

I participated in Mary Jo's Lunchtime sketch challenge. When I saw the sketch I knew I wanted to use the new Howlstooth & Scaringbone Designer Series Paper from the Holiday catalog (p.24). And of course the new Googly Ghouls stamp set with the Googlies eyes!(p.27)  It may seem a little early for Halloween, but when you're creating your own cards, it's never too early to start.  And when you have new product, you just have to use it! :)

Here's my card.

Supplies:
Stamp sets - Googly Ghouls
Card stock - Basic Gray, Basic Black, Very Vanilla, Howlstooth & Scaringbone DSP
Ink - Black Staz On
Accessories - Spider Web Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, Googlies (eyes), Modern Label punch, 1/8" Basic Black Taffeta Ribbon, Stampin' Dimensionals
